The DECT Forum, the international association of the wireless home and enterprise communication industry, is pleased to announce that the first IOP Plugtest (Interoperability Test) in cooperation with ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) will take place from 14 – 16 June, 2010 in Sophia Antipolis (France).
This is an ETSI Plugtests™ event organised with TC DECT on behalf of the DECT Forum. As with every major technology breakthrough, interoperability across silicon
manufacturers and system integrators is a vital element for a successful roll out.
To this end the DECT Forum has worked with ETSI to organize an official CAT-iq 2.0 Plugtest event where silicon manufacturers, system vendors, OEMs, and carriers alike can test the interoperability of their implementations against other devices and systems.
„We believe this will send an important message to the industry about the maturity of CAT-iq 2.0 and will pave the way for a successful Certification Program and market launch. We are expecting a strong presence from CAT-iq handset, gateway and basestation manufacturers, system integrators and carriers – in fact all industry players involved in the supply chain of bringing a CAT-iq 2.0 product to market“, comments Daniel Hartnett, DECT Forum Board member and Chairman of the CAT-iq Working Group.
The DECT Forum also announces the availability of the complete Certification Handbook. The handbook contains all relevant legal and technical documents for manufacturers, test houses, certification laboratories, and further interested companies, who intend to certify CAT-iq devices. The Certification Program, set up and supervised by the DECT Forum, ensures interoperability of devices from multiple manufacturers for functionalities defined in CAT-iq.
Content of the CAT-iq 2.0 Certification Handbook:
• CAT-iq Qualification Program Regulation
• CAT-iq Licence Agreement
• CAT-iq Testing and Qualification Agreement
• CAT-iq Measurement Specifications
• CAT-iq Feature Requirements
• CAT-iq Audio and RF Specifications
Members of the DECT Forum can download the Handbook from www.dect.org.
